June Programmes
Take a peek Behind the Scenes!
-Theatre production workshops
This June holidays, the upcoming ArtsFest presents a
host of music, dance and theatre performances.
But do you know that behind the glitter of any successful
production is a complex collaborative effort from a whole
team of unseen people? This series of workshops gives
you an opportunity to go behind the scenes and shows you the
roles and tools of the people behind a
theatre production.
Here's your chance to find out what goes on backstage and learn
hands-on from the practitioners and members of the Theatre Studies
Alumni and Resource Association.
Session 1 - "Getting started"
What is theatre? What makes a suitable production? What
needs to be looked out for during auditioning, casting
etc? Take a different look at theatre production from the
seats of the director, producer, stage manager and the different
people involved.
Session 2 - "Getting the show ready"
What is a stage picture? How are set designs and
lighting designs carried out? Find out how each
individual member from the director, producer, set designer,
technical manager, wardrobe and props
master to the follow spotter work together
to present a seamless show. You'll get to try out special
lightings too!
Session 3 - "Beyond the stage"
Apart from getting the act ready,
learn about other aspects such as managing
publicity, ticketing strategies, logistics
and front of house which help to make the production a
smooth and successful run. Be alerted to some problems
theatre in Singapore encounter and get your questions
about theatre answered.
After this series, you'll better appreciate all the work that goes
behind those short moments on stage and view theatre differently!
Date/Time : Saturdays, 2, 16 & 23 June,
2pm-4pm,
Venue : Singapore Art Museum, Auditorium
Fees : $10 per session or $25
