Le Corbusier: Painter and Architect
by Rene Tan
26 May (Sat), 2pm-3.30pm, Patron,s Club
As we move beyond the vagaries of fashion, trends and styles of
the late 20th century and into the uncertainties of the 21st
century, the lessons of the Swiss-French architect remain all the
more pertinent and applicable to the visual and built-world around
us. In this lecture, rediscover the great master
Le Corbusier (1887 - 1965) and examine the inter-relatedness
amongst disciplines of the arts and design in general, and amongst
painting and architecture in particular.
Rene Tan received his architecture training at Princeton and is a
practising architect and partner at SCDA Architects in Singapore.
He has served as a juror at universities including Cornell,
Berkeley, Syracuse and NUS. Rene has in the past few years been
travelling, visiting the buildings of, and teaching courses
related to Le Corbusier. He currently also lectures at the
LASALLE-SIA College
of the Arts.
