     Fuk Tak Chi Museum

Fuk Tak Chi was central to the Chinese immigrants' life - both as a shrine and as a welfare centre.

Built in the formal style of China's old magistrate's courts, the temple is not only a fascinating architectural study, it also brims with historical whimsy. The museum holds about 200 artefacts contributed by former residents of Chinatown, such as intricate Peranakan jewellery, a charcoal iron, an opium smoker's lamp and many others.

Like the old days, as the steady stream of visitors prove, Fuk Tak Chi is once again a vital part of Telok Ayer Street.
