SUSPENSION OF LICENCE
UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has suspended the licence of a
cooked food
stallholder, Mr Abdul Latiff Bin Ahmed of Stall No. 13 Serangoon
Garden Food Centre who has accumulated a total of 14 demerit points.
His licence will be suspended for a period of 2 weeks from 24 Dec 2000 to
6 Jan 2001.
SUSPENSION OF FOODSTALL LICENCE AT 177 RIVER
VALLEY ROAD #B1-21 ) QUAYSIDE FOODCOURT UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has suspended the licence of a
foodstall at
177 River Valley Road #B1-21 ) Quayside Foodcourt, which has accumulated a
total of 12 demerit points within a 12-month period under the Points
Demerit
System. The period of suspension is for 2 weeks from 25 Dec 2000 to 7 Jan
2001. The licensee of the foodstall, Mdm Ng Siam Hiang, had
accumulated 16 demerit points during the last 12 months.
SUSPENSION OF LICENCE OF STALL "Si
Ji Xiang Delicious Food" at 11 SENOKO WAY UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has
suspended the licence of a food
stallholder, Mr Toh Tien Siong, of "Si Ji Xiang Delicious
Food", as he has accumulated
a total of 12 demerit points. His licence will be suspended for a
period of 2 weeks from 13 Dec 2000 to 26 Dec 2000.

SUSPENSION OF LICENCE OF STALL NO. 10
ADAM ROAD FOOD CENTRE UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has
suspended the licence of a food
stallholder, Mr Rahumatulah s/o Abdul Rahman Stall 10 Adam Road Food
Centre, known as Barakath Stall 10 Mutton Soup, as he has accumulated
a total of 12 demerit points. His licence will be suspended for a
period of 2 weeks from 7 Nov 2000 to 20 Nov 2000.
August 2000
SUSPENSION OF LICENCE OF STALL NO. 23,
NEWTON FOOD CENTRE UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has suspended the licence of a cooked food
stallholder, Mr Koh Meng Seah of Stall No 23 Newton Food Centre (known as
Newton Grilled Seafood) as he has accumulated a total of 12 demerit
points. His
licence will be suspended for a period of 2 weeks from 24 August 2000 to 6
Sept
2000.
SUSPENSION OF LICENCE OF STALL NO. 29 PASIR PANJANG FOOD CENTRE UNDER
THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment will be suspending the licence of a cooked
food
stallholder, Madam Marmah Binte Marwi of Stall No. 29 Pasir Panjang Food
Centre because she has accumulated a total of 12 demerit points. Her
licence will be suspended for a period of 2 weeks from 25 Aug 2000 to 7
Sep 2000.
SUSPENSION OF FOODSTALL LICENCE AT 717 HAVELOCK ROAD
UNDER THE POINTS DEMERIT SYSTEM
The Ministry of the Environment has suspended the licence of a foodstall
at
717 Havelock Road which has accumulated a total of 14 demerit points
within a
12-month period under the Points Demerit System. The period of suspension
is
for 2 weeks from 21 Aug 2000 to 17 Sep 2000.
The foodstall, in an eating house known as Kheng Nam Lee, has no business
name and the licensee, Mdm Phang Oi Lin had accumulated more than 12
demerit points during the last 12 months.
SUSPENSION OF LICENCE OF STALL NO. 60
NEWTON FOOD CENTRE FOR TOUTING
The Ministry of the Environment will be suspending the licence of a BBQ
seafood stall at No. 60 Newton Food Centre (Takara Grilled Seafood Stall),
for
a period of 1 month from 21 August 2000 to 20 September 2000 because one
of
the stall assistant was caught touting and harassing customers on 31 July
2000.
The Ministry takes a very serious view of hawkers touting or harassing
customers at hawker centres. Such improper practices if left
unchecked would
adversely affect the good services expected of our hawker centres as well
as
the pleasant experience of Singaporeans and tourists patronising our
hawker
centres.

General Notice
Under the Points Demerit System, if a
stallholder accumulated 12 demerit points
or more within 12-month period, his/her licence will be suspended either
for 2
or 4 weeks, or be revoked, depending on the stallholder's past record.
All licensed food hawkers have a responsibility to members of the public.
They must ensure that the food sold at their stalls is clean, wholesome,
properly covered and free from contamination by insects and vermin.
They must also ensure that their stalls are clean and must observe good
personal and food hygiene practices at all times. They must register
all foodhandlers with the Commissioner of Public Health.
Members of the public can assist in
maintaining a high standard of
personal and food hygiene by calling the Ministry hotline 1800-7319222 to
provide feedback on malpractice by hawkers or operators of eating
establishments.
