It's here again. The annual Chinese New Year float
procession, popularly
known as Chingay, will go on the road on Saturday, 12 February 2000 at
8.00 pm.
This will be the 28th time since 1973 (when it first started) that
Chingay will parade on the road. This year's Chingay Parade
involves more than 3000 participants and is expected to attract more
than 200 000 spectators along its route from City Hall, round the Padang,
along Connaught Drive towards Nicoll Highway and Suntec City. Among the items are the
tallest float in the history of the Chingay, stilt-walking by 130
children born in the year of the Dragon, and beauty queens from the
