Sheltered Homes
are residential facilities catering to the needs of ambulant senior
citizens. The Homes provide some support services to assist and
enable senior citizens to maintain their independence within the
community. |

Those who need
to seek admission to a Sheltered Home for the Aged must: |
|
- be at least 60
years old |
|
- be Singapore
citizens or permanent residents |
|
- be medically
fit and free from infectious diseases, be mentally alert and
capable of taking care of their activities of daily living
such as feeding, bathing, dressing, etc. and |
|
- be
without family and are on Public Assistance allowance. Those
with a family but have difficulties living with or obtaining
adequate support from their family members are considered on
a case-by-case basis. |

Public
Assistance recipients can make their applications for
admission to a Sheltered Home for the Aged through the
Social Assistance Section of the Ministry of Community
Development and Sports, 512 Thomson Road Singapore
298136. Toll-free line: 1800-258 7619. |

Those not on
Public Assistance allowance can make their application
directly with the respective Sheltered Homes for the Aged. |
