with an abundance of activities to keep you out of the heat and
still warm the cockles of your creativity !
PROMOTIONS
Theatreworks Balance
Borrow any items from our theatre section - plays, musicals
on DVD, books on directing (just to mention a few) and you can go
into a draw for a pair of tickets to Balance, a new play conceived
and directed by Low Kee Hong and starring Gerald Chew and Emma
Yong.
Promotion Dates : 1-15 August.
(The winning tickets are for the performance on 27 August at
The Black Box, Fort Canning, 8pm. The winner will be notified by
email and telephone)
Raise your Lantern !
Borrow 8 items from the library and receive a free lantern -
guaranteed to get you all moony for the upcoming Lantern Festival.
When using combined receipts for redemption, they must be from library@esplanade
and from the same patron.

INNOVATION GALLERY
September will see a brand new exhibition in the library's
Innovation
Gallery, so if you haven't experienced our "Lights, Camera,
Sound, Action" display, do drop by and find out how film and
other performing arts interconnect.

Bluff Your Way Through Classical Music: Shall We Dance?
An NEW insightful series of lively conversations with special
guest
speakers Chang Tou Liang and Phan Ming Yen, hosted by SSO
Education and Outreach Manager George Wong. Topics can range from
"Greatest Pianists of the Twentieth Century" to
"Great Musical Centres of the World".
This programme is repeated on Saturday 2 August, 6.30pm

Learn music with the Creative Prodikeys
Come and join the Creative Prodikeys team for an entertaining and
fun afternoon of music learning. Be treated to a repertoire of
tunes from the world's first integrated Music and PC keyboard in
one- the revolutionary Creative Prodikeys! Discover the hidden
music talent in you and find out how easy it is to learn, play and
create music while having lots of fun at the same time!

Bluff Your Way Through Classical Music: The Magic of Mozart
More in the series of lively conversations with special guest
speakers Chang Tou Liang and Phan Ming Yen, hosted by SSO
Education and Outreach Manager George Wong. The discussion will
touch on the vast and infinitely varied repertoire of one of the
Classical era's best-loved composers, Mozart.

Is It Music? : A John Cage Retrospective
Jonathan Fox, Timpani and Percussion Principal of the SSO, will
talk about the upcoming concert Is It Music?: A John Cage
Retrospective featuring the works of the avant-garde 20th century
composer. He will inform the audience on John Cage's fascinating
and always thought-provoking music, and may even involve attendees
in some interactive demonstrations
