1,800 kg will enjoy lower season parking charges if their vehicles can
fit into a car lot... |

About 900 season parking ticket holders are

Spam Control Bill 2007 passed |
|
"Part I of
the Bill defines spam. A message is “spam” when it is
an unsolicited commercial electronic message sent more
than 100 times, with the same or similar
subject-matter, during a 24-hour period, or more than
1,000 times during a 30-day period, or more than
10,000 times during a one-year period... |
|
"An opt-out approach
is adopted under the Bill as it balances the need of companies and
marketers to send unsolicited messages for business reasons... |
|
"In order to balance
between consumer interests and industry needs the Bill will
require that each message contains a valid unsubscribe facility,
an ‘<ADV>’ label to mark it out as an advertisement,
accurate header information or subject titles and functional
contact details of the sender... |
|
"The unsubscribe
process has been structured to be consumer-friendly so that even
individuals who receive small volumes of spam have a means of
recourse, without resorting to legal action. The Bill makes it
mandatory for senders to allow recipients to unsubscribe via the
same medium through which the spam was received. This ensures that
unsubscribing from spam can be done easily and conveniently by
replying to an email or SMS..." |

Experiments by scientists at Harvard University and the United

a 30-minute nap during work, commonly called a "power

feeling guilty about taking that 'power nap' at work," the
researchers said in their report. (STraits

London: Psychologists
from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston found that
"teleworkers" - those who worked from home - suffered by being
isolated from "the hustle and bustle" of the office and found
it hard to concentrate away from the office environment.
Home-workers missed the company of their colleagues, the interaction of
other employees and even the tensions that often occurred at the office.
As part of their study, researchers studied a group of national
newspaper journalists who worked at the office and another group who
were allowed to work at home after going to the office for years.
(Straits Times 21 Dec 2000)
From Jan
2001, some 100,000 companies will be able to e-file their corporate tax
returns via the Internet, said the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore
(IRAS) in a statement on 18 Dec 2000. This filing option will also be made
available to tax agents who file tax returns on behalf of their
corporate clients. (Straits Times 19 Dec 2000)
With the Accountants
(Amendment) Bill passed on 13 Nov 2000, accounting practices can now opt to
form corporations with limited liability. They were limited to sole-
proprietorships or partnerships previously. They now join other
professionals, such as lawyers, engineers and architects, who were
allowed to do so earlier. |
