“ISLAND ADVENTURES”

For 3 to 15 years of age

Gear up for an extraordinary island adventure during the year-end holidays!

From November 21 to 26 or November 28 to December 3 2005, ACT 3 Drama Academy Holiday Workshops will transform children into treasure seekers and castaways! The action takes place on an imagined faraway and mysterious island as the children and their teachers work hand in hand, using their fertile imagination and various drama tools to recreate enchanting stories from different parts of the world and discover much more about themselves!

For five fantastic days, four groups of children (aged 3 and 4; 5 to 7; 8 to 10; 11 to 15) will be actively and skillfully engaged in the creative process of producing a ‘live’ drama performance based on their respective themes. For 3- to 7-year-olds, a 10-hour workshop will be held and for 8- to 15-year-olds there will be a 15-hour workshop.

Children aged three and four will seek and uncover ‘treasures’ in their Treasure Adventures while five-year-olds to 15-year-olds get shipwrecked on a remote island, looking for clues to find their way around the place in their Castaway Adventures.

All the participants’ energy and ideas will reach an exciting climax on the sixth day when everyone gets the chance to perform before an audience of family and friends.

What can children achieve from these holiday workshops?

“A lot when they use their imagination!” declares Mrs Ruby Lim-Yang, Director of ACT 3 Drama Academy, who set up the Academy more than 10 years ago. “And nothing captures their imagination like Drama does. It is a powerful tool that allows the children to become aware of what they feel and think as they begin problem solving in imagined situations.”

Ruby enlightens, “It’s an eye-opening experience for many parents. Even for those who have seen their children perform before, every show is a new experience because they see a different aspect of the child developing.”

The workshop is held daily from Monday to Friday

A presentation will be held on Saturday for parents

Parents have the option to choose the date, time and age group that best suit their child.

For 5- to 7-year-olds

For 8- to 10-year-olds
