Get for me:  Monday with the Editor

Hallo again everyone. Getforme has been around for two weeks now. Last week, I mentioned that I had written to Her World magazine to seek approval to use thumbnail pictures of their front covers from 1960 to 1999, the ones which have appeared in their December 1999 bumper issue.  Well, they have reverted. It seems, we have to pay them a fee of S$50 for each thumbnail picture that we show here for you to see. There are a total of 455 thumbnail pictures. The fee we have to pay works out to S$22 750.00. I am sorry but we can't afford to foot that amount. It appears that not many organisations are as receptive as NTUC when it comes to helping out for a good cause. NTUC Lifestyle was very quick in giving its approval. I received NTUC's reply on the same day I sent my request and it didn't cost us a cent.

Yesterday, I sent e-mails to some expatriate and Singaporean overseas students' associations. I told them about this new website and encouraged them to get their friends and members to visit  getforme.  I want to get a feel of the direction this website is taking. I have the basics all ready- this place is meant for expatriates and Singaporeans working, studying or living overseas. But, as I want this website to grow up and mature like any new baby, I need the human touch from all you fellas out there around the world. Come and touch this baby. Come and pinch its cheeks. Participate in the nurturing of getforme. If you have suggestions, tell us about your suggestions.

I visited C K Tang again yesterday. The boards have all come down on the ground floor. The makeover for the cosmetics department has been completed. There's pristine whiteness all round- on the walls and  the counters. The new layout aims to draw the shoppers to touch and use the products-to help themselves. In case some of you are not aware, Tang Studio has expanded their shop at Centrepoint. They are not just selling shoes anymore- they have about 5000 sq ft of new shopping area selling clothes, bags and other accessories. I will try to get a picture of their new expanded store the next time round and post it here for you to view.

Enough talk for now, I have to upload this page straightaway. See you next week.
