MediaCorp Radio settles fine for breaching the Radio
Programme Code |

MediaCorp Radio has paid a $5,000 fine
imposed by the Media Development Authority (MDA) for airing a discussion
on a sex-related topic during Class 95FM's "The Morning Express"
programme in August this year. |
|
The programme, aired between 7am to 8am
on 21 August 2007, contained a prolonged discussion between the DJs
on "whether men and women should make noise during sex" and "whether
noisy men turn women off"... |

Radio fined for breaching Radio Programme Code |
|
The Media
Development Authority (MDA) has fined MediaCorp Radio
S$30,000 for breaching the Radio Programme Code by airing
sexually suggestive materials. Sexually suggestive segments
discussing issues such as "how soon one should sleep
with a partner" and "pornographic movies offered
in hotels" were aired on the Morning Madness programme
on 28 Jul 2004. |

Sheikh Haikel
has been fired from his DJ job at MediaCorp Radio's
Perfect 10. In a letter
to the Straits Times Forum Page, a listener complained
about comments he made on the show in July 2004. On 10 Aug
2004, the Media Development Authority said the incident
breached the Radio Programme Code. |

Mature content and
themes on pay-TV channels from today |
|
From today, programmes
with more mature content and themes can be aired on local pay-TV
channels such as HBO, Cinemax, Star Movies and Celestial Movies
under new age classifications of 16 and 18. Sex and the City,
previously banned here, will be aired on the HBO channel on Friday
nights starting from 16 Jul 2004. |

facelift from 5 Jun 2004 |

The Weekend Today
newspaper has been refined, revamped and repackaged. The 5 Jun
2004 weekend issue sports the new version. On page two, Today says
they have "added three new sections to help you do what all
Singaporeans like to do on the weekend: SHOP". And "to
make the newspaper more accessible, however, more of the 300,000
copies that go out on the weekend will be available at major
shopping centres, along the Orchard Road belt and at fast-food
chains and coffee houses". |
