Beng Tian is a Graphic Design diploma holder with LaSalle-SIA
College of the Arts, who began her life in theatre with Toy
Factory Theatre Ensemble in 1989. She has been exposed to the
fine arts since the tender age of seven.
Her theatre career reached a major turning point when she left
for Quanzhou City in Fujian, China, in 1994, to undertake a
one-and-a-half year intensive course in traditional hand
puppetry, conducted by renowned puppet master, Li Bofen, and
sponsored by the National Arts Council.
Upon her return, she became a full-time artiste, dedicating
herself to children’s theatre. With the support of The Theatre
Practice, she set up The Finger Players. Effectively bilingual,
she has performed in both English and Mandarin productions.
Her theatre portfolio includes
Dragon Quest (Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble, 1991),
Lao Jiu (TheatreWorks, 1993),
Descendants of the Eunuch General (The Theatre Practice,
1995) and Leng Geh-Meng (Drama Box, 1997) among others.
