Police arrest armed full-time national serviceman in Orchard Road


Armed Male Subject Caught
Police apprehended an armed 20-year-old SAF serviceman along Orchard Road near Orchard Cineleisure at about 8pm on 3 Sept 2007.
The serviceman had gone missing from Mandai Hill Camp on the night of 2 September 07 with a rifle and some ammunition that had been issued to him.
After an intensive manhunt mounted by more than 200 officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Intelligence Department (PID) and the Police Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR), Police apprehended the serviceman swiftly. The missing rifle and ammunition were fully recovered.
Said Director CID, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Lock Wai Han, “With careful planning and coordination with various agencies and Police units, Police successfully apprehended the subject.”
The man will be investigated under the Arms Offences Act.

Missing SAF Serviceman Apprehended
A full-time national serviceman CPL Dave Teo Ming, 20, who was found to be missing from Mandai Hill Camp on 2 Sep 07 at 11.59pm has been apprehended by the Police.
A weapon and some ammunition assigned to him for guard duty were also recovered. The SAF had worked with the Police in the search for the serviceman, weapon and ammunition.
CPL Teo, an Infantry rifleman from 1st Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment (1 SIR) was enlisted in Sep 2005 and is due for his Operationally Ready Date (ORD) next month.
MINDEF and the SAF will be assisting the Police in the investigation.
