The National Arts Council (NAC) is pleased
to invite the public to submit their artworks for the Singapore Art Show
2007 (SAS2007). |
|
Organised by NAC, the Singapore Art Show (SAS)
is a national platform celebrating distinctive and outstanding art
created by Singaporean and Singapore-based artists. |
|
The biennial festival showcases the
diversity of visual arts practices in Singapore, presents new artistic
content, and further develops the capabilities of artists and curators.
It also aims to encourage public appreciation and engagement in visual
arts in Singapore. |
|
Spread over two months, SAS2007 features a
main platform, the Singapore Art Exhibition (SAE) and multiple niche
platforms. |
|
Held at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) from
2 August to 3 September, SAE comprises an Open section and a Curated
section. Singaporeans and residents can be a part of SAS2007 by
submitting their works for the Open section. |
|
To ensure the wide-ranging and inclusive
nature of the Open section, the public can submit any form of visual
artworks. |
|
These include works of painting,
calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, batik, photography, printmaking, mixed
media, installation and new media art. |
|
Submitted works will be assessed and short
listed for exhibition by a selection panel comprising members from NAC,
SAM, practitioners and academics from the local visual arts community. |
|
Short listed artists stand to receive
a Career Developmental Prize which is a residency grant prize of
up to $50,000 to boost his/her artistic and professional
development. |
|
¡°The Singapore Art Show is a national
showcase of Singapore artists and Singapore art. At the same time
we would also like it to be a platform for artists to hone their
craft and raise their competencies so that they can continue to
develop new works and go on to make a mark in the international
art scene. I encourage all artists to send in their best works and
make a bid for the Career Development Prize,¡± says Lee Suan Hiang,
Chief Executive Officer, National Arts Council. |
|
The deadline for submission of
artworks for the Open section is 15 June 2007. SAE is co-presented
by NAC and the National Heritage Board (Singapore Art Museum) as
part of SAS2007. |
|
In addition to the main platform, the
SAS2007 features niche platforms to promote specific arts forms or
curatorial visions. There will also be other accessible and fun
outreach activities and public art components to engage the public
in a myriad of visual and interactive offerings. |
|
We invite you to help us publicise SAS
2007 and the call for participation in SAE through your respective
media. |

More information on participation in
SAE is in the annex attached. |
