National Day Parade 2005 promises to be a national
event that will engage all fellow Singaporeans as we celebrate 40 years of
nation building. To add to the significance of the occasion, this year’s
parade will be held at the historic and nostalgic location of the Padang,
where we held our very first National Day Parade in 1966. |
The themes and tagline for NDP 2005 are as
follows: |
a) Foundation Theme - 40 Years of Nation Building.
b) Values Theme - "Resilience" and "Unity in Diversity".
c) Hope Theme - Dynamic People, Cohesive Society, Vibrant
Nation.
d) Tagline - "The Future is Ours to Make".
|
Centered around the theme, "40 YEARS OF NATION
BUILDING", NDP 2005 aims to bring pride and patriotism to all Singaporeans as
we reflect upon our last 40 years of nation building and achievements, and pay
tribute to the unyielding commitment and determination of our elder
generations that brought us to where we are today. At the same time, we will
also be celebrating the vitality and dynamism of our younger generation who
continue to strive hard to build a better life, better home and better future
for Singapore. |
The NDP 2005 Executive Committee, comprising
members from both the public and private sectors, is chaired by Commander of
3rd Division, Singapore Armed Forces, Brigadier-General ( BG ) Loh Wai Keong. |
A special feature of NDP this year is a series of
large scale celebrations held simultaneously across Singapore beyond the
Parade at Padang itself, connecting all fellow Singaporeans across the island
in a cohesive network to celebrate National Day together. We hope that this
will bring about even greater participation and involvement from all fellow
Singaporeans in this year’s National Day celebrations. |
There will be three main celebratory events in NDP
2005 - Carnival@Marina, Parade@Padang, and Celebration@Heartlands. The
Carnival@Marina is a nine-day fun-filled carnival from 6 to 14 Aug at Marina
South to portray the dynamic, vibrant and fun-loving side of Singaporeans. |
The Parade@Padang shall remain the main focal
point on National Day itself, with the military parade and ceremony, followed
by exciting displays of music, choreography and mass performance. |
In Celebration@Heartlands, we will see large scale
celebrations held simultaneously on National Day itself at three key venues in
Singapore’s heartlands - Jurong East, Yishun and Tampines - connecting all
fellow Singaporeans in a cohesive network across our island. |
