The Singapore Sports
School, a specialised school providing a conducive academic and
training environment for talented youth athletes, was officially
opened by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on 2 April 2004.
The idea of establishing
a specialised school for young sportsmen was mooted by the Committee
on Sporting Singapore (CoSS) in 2000.
"...First, the
Sports School will admit all students with high sporting
potential regardless of their academic ability. This will
take effect from 2006..."
