Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Acting Programme
The Acting Programme is a highly
selective performance-based course of study, which prepares
extremely committed and talented students for professional careers
as actors in theatre, film and television. The programme ensures
students graduate as informed, creative actors with resources to
work across cultural boundaries.
It also provides students with a
broad range of practice in different Western acting and performance
styles and techniques while being informed by non-Western and Asian
theatre practices. A range of work from the epic and the classic to
the avant-garde and contemporary will refine students¨ skills in
class, rehearsal and production situations - with the final year
operating as a Performance Company.
The programme provides students with
a comprehensive set of acting, voice, improvisation, movement,
theatre history and dramatic literature classes as well as workshops
and masterclasses led by acting and theatre professionals with
international reputations and experience. Graduating students will
be taught career and portfolio management to prepare them for
auditions worldwide.
Both the Musical Theatre and Acting
programmes are offered at the Faculty of Performing Arts &
Integrated Studies. Other performing arts degrees available at the
Faculty include Dance, Classical Music, Jazz, Music Technology,
Popular Music, Theatre Arts, Technical Theatre Arts and World Music.
