LASALLE-SIA presents UK¡¯s
Transitions Dance Company in Singapore |

LASALLE-SIA College of the
Arts is pleased to present the Transitions Dance Company from the UK in
their premiere performance in Singapore. |
|
Founded by Bonnie Bird (1914 ¨C 1995), one of
the original members of the Martha Graham Dance Company, Transitions
Dance Company is renowned for its commissioning of new work from artists
who represent the very best in up-and-coming choreographic talent from
across the world. |
|
For over twenty years, the company has
entertained international audiences in over 130 venues in Europe, USA
and Asia. |
|
With a reputation for explosive performances
of contemporary dance that are physical, humourous, witty and
intellectual, Transitions Dance Company tours with a 2005 programme of
five works including four new commissions from a collection of
international choreographers including Rafael Bonachela (Spain), Alicia
Herrero Simon (Spain), Thomas Lehmen (Germany), Henry Montes (USA) and
Crystal Pite (Canada). Dance Europe (2004) calls their work
¡°¡choreography which captures your attention and doesn¡¯t let it go¡¡± |

Transitions Dance Company is supported
artistically and administratively by Laban under the Directorship of
Professor Anthony Bowne. Laban is one of the world¡¯s leading
conservatoires for contemporary dance artist training. |
|
Transitions Dance Company¡¯s performance in
Singapore also marks the first working partnership between Laban and
LASALLE-SIA involving creative and academic exchanges. |
|
In January 2005, LASALLE-SIA appointed
Professor Bowne as its first visiting Chair of Dance in the Faculty of
Performing Arts & Integrated Studies. In Singapore, Professor Bowne will
be conducting a lighting seminar for LASALLE-SIA students. The Company
will also be having workshops with LASALLE-SIA¡¯s dance students on the
choreographic process and repertoire to offer an insight into the
creation process. |

Performing Arts & Integrated Studies at LASALLE-SIA, ¡°LASALLE-SIA¡¯s
